System overview

Radio Ambulance is a simple system designed to improve upon ambulance response times by helping drivers recognize when an ambulance is responding to an emergency.

Being able to identify and respond to an ambulance on the road as quickly as possible is the difference between life and death. Using low power broadcast antennas Radio Ambulance hijacks all AM and FM radio stations within a one kilometer radius to inform drivers which direction the ambulance is heading and instructing them begin moving out of it's path.

In Guayaquil, Ecuador, where the system was first implemented, it improved ambulance response time by more than 40%. The success of Radio Ambulance inspired other cities and countries to develop similar technology for ambulances and other emergency vehicles.
