Parent Detector

Parent Detector, was a “Trojan Horse” mobile application that would alert teenagers when their parents were nearby.

Tampico embedded a free traffic application download on their labels for parents and teenagers. Unknown to parents, these applications, once paired, created an alert system for their devices within a 5, 10 or 50 kilometer range. Teenagers would pair and customize the detector to send notifications to them as their parents’ device entered their predetermined range.

Parent Detector created a emotional bond between the brand, Tampico, and a generation of teenagers by leveraging the age-old problem of knowing when your parents are aroud.
